Ironically all attributes of Emily herself! First I revised her logo using fresh fonts and colors and adding the dotted line as a subtle nod to Emily’s constant movement (via bike or on foot) around Hoboken. Emily wanted to show rather then tell how active she is in all facets of the community. Luckily she came to me armed with tons of images of her at business openings, volunteering and promoting causes like traffic safety, park beautification and equality. On the main page I was able to use images for each subpage creating a visual menu that not only served as navigation but also as a photo album of Emily’s accomplishments. Like any good non-politician, Emily wanted to avoid bragging. She didn’t want to take up space and her visitors’ time with lengthy commentary on how great she is (even though she actually is great). I suggested using testimonials from people whose lives were directly affected by Emily’s activism and the stories came pouring in. Her Track Record subpage was born…I wrote each section with the quotes and first-hand accounts as the center-points to make her accomplishments come to life. Her platforms page was similarly efficient, highlighting 5 important areas with pictures of Emily already at work making improvements. I also created subpages for local events (Emily is a huge supporter) and In the News to house press Emily has received through the years. A new Features page houses all of Layla’s articles – each is tagged with keywords so visitors can easily research any topic using the search function at the top of the page. The Services page is a simple scroll with click outs to read more. And the testimonials are clean and designed in the new look and feel for simplicity and continuity. As fundraisers and promotions evolved, I introduced new layouts and graphic devices all within the umbrella branding. Often the promotions included one or several other brands so layouts and designs needed to be flexible. When they enter their email, they automatically receive a link to download an exclusive-free coloring page…the perfect lead-generation strategy!
